INT4SAN in practice — a collection store in Venice
In 2021–2022 the system was studied in the Fondazione Querini store — on the ground floor, with one wall directly bordering a canal.
01 / Results
What was observed after start-up?
How was the study carried out?
First measurements were taken on 20 December 2021. The device was switched on on 20 January 2022 and air was sampled again on 24 February 2022. Four points inside two rooms and one outdoor control point were measured; temperature and humidity were also monitored.
What do the results mean?
The study indicates that INT4SAN can support better microbiological air quality and reduce excess humidity. The largest reduction in xerophilic fungi was found at the point closest to the device.
Values calculated from the report's charts. The report also notes no significant improvement for bacteria. These are observations from a specific study, not a guarantee of identical results in every room.

03 / Study conditions
- Site
- The “Paradiso” store of Fondazione Querini in Venice — two symmetrical rooms joined by a hall with no door.
- Challenge
- Ground floor, north-east wall directly on the canal; no humidity control devices were running at inspection.
- Collection
- Items on shelves about 30 cm above the floor, with insulating polyethylene sheets between walls and shelving.
- Device
- Placed in Room 2 near the north-east wall. Archive staff routines did not change during the study.
- Method
- SAS-IAQ sampler, active aspiration of 150 L of air at each point, media for fungi and aerobic heterotrophic bacteria.
